Understanding Fiber Resilience: V1, V2 & V3 Testing for Hollow Conjugated Siliconized Polyester Staple Fiber

When selecting polyester staple fiber for filling applications, resilience is one of the most important performance indicators. High-resilience fiber helps finished products maintain their loft, support, and comfort even after repeated compression.

To evaluate the performance of our Hollow Conjugated Siliconized Polyester Staple Fiber, we conduct a comprehensive V1, V2 & V3 Resilience Test. This evaluation measures the fiber's initial loft, compression resistance, and recovery performance, providing a reliable indication of how it will perform in real-world applications such as pillows, quilts, cushions, upholstered furniture, plush toys, and pet bedding.

What Are V1, V2 & V3 Test Data?

The V1, V2 and V3 values are obtained through our internal resilience evaluation method under controlled laboratory conditions.Test ConditionsSample: 5 g opened fiber Test Box: 100 × 100 × 200 mm (L × W × H) Compression Plate: 60 g plastic plate Compression Weight: 500 g metal weight The fiber is tested through three consecutive stages to evaluate its bulk, compression resistance, and recovery performance.

V1 – Initial Loft (Bulk)

Test Method

A 60 g plastic compression plate is placed on the fiber sample for one minute.

The average height at the four corners is measured and converted into the V1 value.

Typical Test Result

V1 = 198%

What Does V1 Mean?

V1 represents the fiber's initial bulk (loft) under a light load.

A higher V1 value indicates:

Excellent fluffiness

Higher filling volume

Softer appearance

Better bulk with less filling weight

V2 – Compression Performance

Test Method

An additional 500 g metal weight is placed on top of the plastic compression plate for one minute.

The compressed height is then measured.

Typical Test Result

V2 = 58%

What Does V2 Mean?

V2 represents the fiber's ability to maintain its volume while under heavy compression.

A higher V2 value indicates:

Better compression resistance

Stronger support

Reduced flattening during use

Improved structural stability

V3 – Recovery Performance

Test Method

The 500 g metal weight is removed while the 60 g plastic plate remains.

After two minutes, the recovered height is measured.

Typical Test Result

V3 = 163%

What Does V3 Mean?

V3 measures the fiber's ability to recover after heavy compression.

A higher V3 value indicates:

Excellent resilience

Fast rebound

Better shape retention

Long-lasting loft

Understanding Our Test Results

Our typical resilience performance is shown below:

Together, these three values provide a comprehensive evaluation of the fiber's performance throughout the entire compression cycle—from its initial loft, through heavy compression, to its ability to recover.

How Do These Test Results Affect Finished Products?

Although V1, V2 and V3 are laboratory measurements, they directly influence the quality and performance of finished products.

Pillows

A high V1 value creates pillows that are fuller, softer and more comfortable from the first use.

A high V2 value provides better support for the head and neck by reducing excessive flattening during sleep.

A high V3 value allows pillows to quickly recover their original shape after use, maintaining long-term comfort and appearance.

Cushions & Upholstered Furniture

Higher V1 values produce plump, attractive cushions with greater visual appeal.

Higher V2 values improve load-bearing performance and reduce deformation during prolonged sitting.

Higher V3 values help cushions recover quickly after pressure is removed, extending their service life.

Quilts & Comforters

Higher V1 values provide greater loft, allowing more air to be trapped within the filling for improved warmth and comfort.

Higher V2 values help maintain the quilt's structure during daily use and storage.

Higher V3 values restore the quilt's loft after folding or compression, ensuring long-lasting softness and insulation.

Plush Toys & Decorative Filling

High V1 values create fuller, more attractive toys.

High V2 values reduce flattening caused by squeezing and handling.

High V3 values help toys maintain their original shape after repeated use.

Why Choose Our Hollow Conjugated Siliconized Polyester Staple Fiber?

Our Hollow Conjugated Siliconized Polyester Staple Fiber combines a hollow structure, conjugated crimp, and siliconized finish to deliver outstanding filling performance.

Excellent Loft and Fullness

The hollow fiber structure traps more air, creating higher bulk while keeping the filling lightweight. Finished products feel fuller, softer and more comfortable.

Superior Compression Resistance

Our fiber maintains excellent support under pressure, reducing permanent deformation and helping products retain their shape during everyday use.

Outstanding Recovery Performance

The three-dimensional conjugated crimp acts like tiny springs, allowing the fiber to recover quickly after compression and maintain long-lasting loft.

Soft and Smooth Hand Feel

The siliconized finish reduces friction between fibers, improving softness and ensuring a more uniform filling distribution.

Longer Product Life

Excellent resilience helps pillows, quilts and cushions resist flattening, extending their service life and improving customer satisfaction.

Consistent Quality

Every production batch is carefully tested to ensure stable bulk, compression resistance and recovery performance, providing reliable and consistent product quality.

Applications

Our Hollow Conjugated Siliconized Polyester Staple Fiber is widely used for:

Pillows Quilts & Comforters / Cushions / Upholstered / Furniture / Mattresses / Plush Toys / Pet Bedding / Decorative Home Textiles

Conclusion

Our V1, V2 & V3 resilience evaluation provides a comprehensive assessment of the fiber's initial loft, compression resistance and recovery performance.
